Wild Thyme in your colour scheme

Wild Thyme gives small decorative pieces a gentle chalky appearance. Try it on a keepsake box or picture frame and add contrast through stencilling or a distressed edge.

Build the finish in layers

Work on a clean, dry surface and use the paint without added water. Cadence prefers 6–12 hours between coats, depending on conditions, and recommends sanding between layers to develop the characteristic finish. Always test the technique on a sample first.

Protect the finished piece

Choose a compatible velvet-matt varnish or wax to finish the paintwork. For very glossy ceramics, plastic or metal, follow Cadence’s primer guidance before painting.

Remove grease, dust and loose material before painting. Let each coat dry naturally and follow the label for your surface. Keep the lid tightly closed and wash tools with soap and water before the paint dries.
