This recognised ammolite grading system helps distinguish the finest examples of this rare gemstone, which can vary significantly in appearance, colour intensity, and rarity. The four primary grades are AAA, AA, A, and Standard.
The highest grades — AAA and AA ammolite — are exceptionally rare, accounting for only around 3–5% of global annual production. These premium ammolite gemstones display the most vivid iridescence, often revealing a full spectrum of colour that shifts beautifully in the light.
